2011 was pretty awesome but now I have some questions for you.
Will Android tablets with displays at 1920x1080 be unuseable garbage with intolerable java-lag?
Will the next Nexus be a shitty Motorola tablet with locked bootloader?
Will Google keep Motorola Mobility alive?
Will anyone ship an ARM computer, tablet, handset with enough RAM?
Will my darling Samsung return to Wolfson...

My first Month with the iPhone4S

Honeycomb Week 1
Not a real post here just some brief notes.
There are almost zero apps designed for the higher resolution display. Exchange/email, ConnectBot and AndChat look good but the majority of featured apps in the Tablet section of the market are nothing more than minor tweaks. Some featured apps seem to have zero difference between the 2.x and 3.x targets. No skype video? No Netflix? Jorte cannot...

The "Amazon Tax" might force my hand
My home the beautiful, greedy and bankrupt state of California may force retailers out of state to collect taxes on online purchases.
I’m not interested in giving away any more of my cash so I’m considering the minimum requirements for an upgrade to an Android tablet if ICS and the next Nexus are postponed until after the new rules go into effect.

Smart TV
LG has “Smart TV upgrader” on the market for as little as 60$ in the US and here’s why you should pass.
The YouTube app does not allow login so no way to monitor your subscriptions. Same issue plagues the BD390 to this day.
Scrolling with the Magic Motion Remote does not work at all and the calibration is off by 30 degrees.

Honeycomb makes me cry
Monday I had a bit of hands-on with the Asus EEE Pad. Beautiful. I spent time running my hands over the back and sides. I want it but then I try to use Honeycomb. What are all those software buttons for? What happened to notifications? How do I get to device info? Can I hand this to my darling? Would she enjoy the experience?
No.
Can she pickup an iPad and understand the UI in moments?

*heart* JPY on my i9000
I finally took the time to fire up Odin and install voodoo 5 thanks to a friend on twitter.
Download mode and reverting to 2e recovery took less than a minute.
Voodoo from update.zip took a bit of time but wow is it worth it the performance gain is phenomenal.
Samsung should really hire people like supercurio to work out the bugs in the SGS.

Three Towers in my life.
I have great line-of-site 1900Mhz HSPA at my office in Pacific Shores, Redwood City, California, USA. Sometimes DATA drops for days but in general outages are less than an hour. In fact I had an outage today. Being an ATT customer I see bad benchmarks in regard to upstream, downstream and latency. That’s OK. I can live with it.
However I live on South Abel Street...

2011 devices
Before June of 2011 I will own a tablet . Perhaps an A9 tablet with 1280x720 or 1280x800 display and 1GB RAM if the price is reasonable.
My first tablet experience was the Nokia 770. I never thought java apps on ARM would work or screens would hit 10 inches. A year ago I might have said my N900 was the perfect form factor.
What could possibly come next?

JPO bugs
GPS is busted again Fixed if I toggle GPS once or twice.
Battery is going flat soon.
Picasweb uploader is force closing.
Cannot see my microSDHC from Root Explorer, but the data is there. Nope the path changed
Only the GPS issue kills me.
Love to track my walks with Endomondo.
Could be worse.
I love the upgrade overall. UI is smooth and fluid.

I use less than 2 minutes of voice calls a day. My i9000 is a notebook replacement with always on 3G. On that topic. GSM is disabled on my device so I only operate at 1900Mhz 3G. I was wrong
Android performance is awesome.
Post One Click Lag fix the apps SPB TV, Pulse and the Market working working well. No more long unpleasant waits or black screens for me and I only used 600meg instead of the default 1GB.
This has me thinking about gingerbread and the possibility I could loose all interest in OS X notebooks like the beatiful MacBook Pro. I still believe BSD is the best OS and OSX...

Pure Calendar Widget for 2EURO from the Android Market
Quickoffice Connect and Touiteur Premium purchases in the next couple days as well.

I bought a Galaxy S
I’ve spent a few minutes with Android via the SDK and despite the funny UI and giant buttons I want to give it a shot.
The Streak and HTC Desire look awesome but I am tired of waiting for a flagship device with 3G support in North America
Nokia has abandoned Eseries and premium devices so it’s time I explore other options. It would have been nice to wait for the N8 but 256meg of RAM...

I've almost made a decision !!
But not yet. Here more options for a primary mobile. I’ll keep the E72 as a secondary device.
1) Samsung Galaxy S - front face camera == T-Mobile Vibrant which ships in 3 weeks for 199$
2)Dell Streak might ship in a month for 500$
3) HTC Desire with Euro 3G can be had NOW for 500$ to 550$
All of this is complicated by Bing cashback ending the end of July.
My first choice is the Dell...
