Android is a Dog.

I spent a bit of time adding some imap accounts to the email client on my Galaxy S and looks cool but I rather use profimail. Not because of the physical keyboard on my E72 but because the email client is slow and laggy on Android. In fact, despite the endless awesome apps for Android I still love the speed and stability of S60. I would never compare S60 5th to Android but S60 3rd is pretty awesome. I’ll stay a two device person for some time.

So yea, Android on a 1Ghz CPU is not as fast as my E72 with a crap CPU and no PowerVR. Sure my E72 hangs sometimes but not as much as the Galaxy S. What does that say about symbian? No matter how much people badmouth the platform there’s still nothing better. The only real problem with symbian devices is Nokia and their half baked garbage like the N97.

Lets see what Samsung’s 2.2 build brings. Hopefully it’s officially released this week.

Bought a couple more apps

It took 6 months to get my Nokia 5800 50$ rebate but now I’m using the gift card to buy Android apps. Irony?

Advanced Task Killer [ I wanted to get rid of the ads ]

Touiteur Premium [ It’s cheap and awesome! ]

I may also purchase NewsRob but 5 euro seems like a lot of dough.

New UCWEB build

New UCWEB build

DLNA/UPNP from Galaxy S to BD390

Nothing to say.
SBSH PhoneWeaver for 5$

Pure Calendar Widget for 2EURO from the Android Market

The Streak and HTC Desire look awesome but I am tired of waiting for a flagship device with 3G support in North America

Nokia has abandoned Eseries and premium devices so it’s time I explore other options. It would have been nice to wait for the N8 but 256meg of RAM in 2010 is a joke.

Anyway!

Expect a flurry of screenshots and videos in late July.

BTW - App Inventor looks awesome. That’s what pushed me over the edge. I’m looking forward to exploring Accessibility issues and I believe this tool will help a non-coder like myself have some idea of the possibilities.

Symbian Foundation Podcatcher

Symbian Foundation Podcatcher

Ovi Maps is almost good. Here more options for a primary mobile. I’ll keep the E72 as a secondary device.

1) Samsung Galaxy S - front face camera == T-Mobile Vibrant which ships in 3 weeks for 199$

2)Dell Streak might ship in a month for 500$

3) HTC Desire with Euro 3G can be had NOW for 500$ to 550$

All of this is complicated by Bing cashback ending the end of July.

My first choice is the Dell at 500$ but with no proof of 2.2 or ship date I’m leaning toward the Vibrant at 199$… but 30$ / month for 3G is a bit painful.

Any ideas?

@tmobile_usa says WTF to .mobi

@Nokia I need a lot more RAM

@Nokia I need a lot more RAM

No free 4th gen iPhone here

No free 4th gen iPhone here

Google IO keynote blocked on Mobile?

Google IO keynote blocked on Mobile?

Ovi Maps says drive in circles

Ovi Maps says drive in circles

What now? [ again ]

I’m writing this post from the back seat of a car speeding down I5 in California. Rather than use a tumblr client I’ll compose in profimail. Anyway… I no longer love the E72. The faster CPU is wonderful but the camera and GPS are useless. My device was rebooting 5 to 10 times a day until the latest firmware update. The passion has died and I need something fresh. The N900 and E51 have been sold and the iPod Touch broke so this is my only device. Mostly because of the weak 128 meg of RAM it’s not able to keep up with my multitasking needs; profimail, gravity, ucweb, quickoffice, slick and an occasional dash of putty and mirggi. Yea. My mobile is a computer. What can I do? I imagine Nokia wont bother to ship a S60 device with 256meg of RAM until this fall. If they could suspend a process and swap the memory out to “disk” like iPhone 4.x I’d be set. Am I asking for too much? I image only the HTC Desire can pick up where Nokia dropped the ball. Is anyone else bothered it’s taking them over a year to catch up with the Samsung I8910? Do they have any interest in the flagship market? Where the hell is the N910 or N950? Where are the meego tablets? Is OPK asleep at the wheel?
